🚚 July 09, 2026 v8.12.1
“Movin’ on Up” — Good Times
This week is all about a little more elbow room.
We’ve added a dedicated Production menu to give production-focused features a place to grow. Text Block Numbering is the first to make the move, relocating from the … menu into its new home.
Sometimes the best additions are the ones that make room for what comes next.
🌽 July 02, 2026 v8.11.0
“If you build it, he will come.”— Field of Dreams
This week’s work is all behind the scenes—no user-facing changes.
Good things take shape before they’re ready to be seen. We’re continuing to build with the future in mind.
One release at a time.
🏠 June 25, 2026 v8.10.0
“There’s no place like home.” — The Wizard of Oz
Initial Snapshots for Duplicated and Imported Scripts
When duplicating a script within Scripto or importing a Final Draft (.fdx) file, an initial Snapshot will now be created automatically.
This ensures you’ll always have a baseline version of the script to refer to, even if you immediately begin rewriting.
Return to Your Last Page
When you exit a script and later return, you’ll be taken back to the page you were viewing.
This allows you to pick up right where you left off.
Here’s to finding your way back.
⚡ June 18, 2026 v8.9.15
“Great Scott!” — Back to the Future
This week’s work includes ongoing improvements and a small but important 🐛 fix: Undo has been restored, including both the shortcut and the UI button.
Everything is now working as expected, and users can once again step back through changes smoothly.
Consider the timeline restored.
🛸 June 11, 2026 v8.9.14
“This means something. This is important.” — Close Encounters of the Third Kind
This week’s work is all behind the scenes—no user-facing changes.
Some things take shape long before they become visible. Work continues steadily in the background, one signal at a time.
We’re listening.

This week’s work is all behind the scenes—no user-facing changes.
Fortunately, everything is exactly as it should be.
No pods detected.
✨ May 28, 2026 — v8.9.10
“There’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo… and it’s worth fighting for.” — The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
This week’s work is all behind the scenes—no user-facing changes.
The work continues moving forward, release by release, and through it all we continue to show up for each other.
🎙️ May 21, 2026 — v8.9.9
“Good night, and good luck.”— Good Night, and Good Luck
This week’s work is all behind the scenes—no user-facing changes.
Some endings remind us what matters most: the people behind the work, the communities built over time, and the way good teams continue showing up for one another as new chapters begin.
And that is always worth carrying forward.
⚾️ May 14, 2026 — v8.9.8
“There’s no crying in baseball!” — A League of Their Own
This week’s work is all behind the scenes—no user-facing changes.
A lot gets done simply by showing up for each other, knowing what matters, and staying in the game.
🐟 May 7, 2026 — v8.9.7
“There’s nothing left to fear.” — Piranha
This week’s release is all behind the scenes—no user-facing changes.
Not everything lurking underneath is cause for concern. 💗
🌸 April 16, 2026 — v8.9.6
“Don’t you love New York in the spring?” — You’ve Got Mail
A quieter week on the surface, and busy behind the scenes.
A little like spring itself… not everything shows up at once.
🎤 April 17, 2026 — v8.9.5
“Is this thing on?” — Is This Thing On?
Check, check—everything’s running smoothly.
This week’s work is all behind the scenes—nothing flashy, just making sure you have everything you need before you get the light.
🥮 April 09, 2026 — v8.9.4
“You just keep going.” — Julie & Julia
This week’s work is all behind the scenes—no user-facing changes, just steady progress on forthcoming features.
Soufflé after soufflé, the best way forward is simple: you just keep going.
🏐 April 02, 2026 — v8.9.3
“Step by step.” — Cast Away
Not every week brings visible changes—and that’s by design.
This week’s work has been focused behind the scenes: improving stability and addressing edge cases.
These updates aren’t user-facing, but they’re part of making sure everything holds together the way it should.
Like Chuck Noland’s resolve — quiet, steady, and onwards and upwards.
⚾️ March 26, 2026 — v8.9.1
“Let them play” — The Bad News Bears
This week’s update is about building blocks for what’s coming next, behind-the-scenes strengthening, and a long-awaited truce between sections.
When headers were set to display both title and section info, those sections could sometimes compete for attention. We’ve had a discussion, and everyone is following the rules now: the later section on the page (e.g., Act and/or Slug) is treated as the source of truth.
For example, if Act 1 and Act 2 appear on the same page, Act 2 will be recognized as the section info. If Act 2 is followed by a slug in a variety script, that slug steps up to the plate too.
Now, acts and slugs are playing nicely together — keeping things more consistent and easier to follow.
And if you prefer one section per page, adding page breaks will ensure your headers align exactly as expected — slug for slug, act for act.
Sometimes the fix isn’t about adding more rules — it’s about letting things work the way they’re meant to. Turns out, that’s when everything starts to play a whole lot better. Right, Coach Buttermaker? ⚾
🌬️ March 20, 2026 — v8.9.0
“We gave them something to hope for.” — Dune: Part Two
This week’s release brings a couple of updates designed to make your work clearer and more collaborative.
Because even small moments of clarity can cut through the noise — a principle the Atreides would recognize.
Snapshots → Asterisk View — Deletions
Building on last week’s update, you can now choose to display deletions in Asterisk View. With a simple toggle, deleted content will appear in red with a strikethrough, giving you a more complete and transparent view of changes. (Note: Showing deletions may increase your page count, depending on the magnitude of the deletions.)
Headers & Footers at Script Level
Headers and footers are now set at the script level (rather than user level). New scripts will default to a page number in the upper right.
Please note: since these settings now live at the script level, any changes will update for everyone working in that script.
👽 March 12, 2026 — v8.8.8
“I’ll be right here.” — E.T.
This week we’ve added an ambidextrous feature.
In Snapshots → Asterisk View, you’ll now find a new Settings option that lets you choose whether asterisk marks appear on the left or right margin. You can also decide whether additions are highlighted in green, giving you a little more control over how changes appear as scripts evolve.
We’ve also made the asterisks larger, making them easier to spot at a glance.
Sometimes the smallest signals help everyone stay connected. Right, Elliott? ✨
⚖️ March , 05 2026 — v8.8.7
“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” — Martin Luther King Jr.
This week we noticed a small thing quietly hiding in the margins. In Asterisk view, the page number header had decided to turn itself into a shy little dot.
We reminded it how important it is, and it’s now showing up properly again — right where it belongs.
Everything else continues strengthening behind the scenes so the system stays steady while the work keeps growing.
Sometimes justice looks dramatic. Sometimes it’s simply making sure the right things appear exactly where they should.
Something Dr. King understood well.
🛠️ March 03 , 2026 — v8.8.6 | Ad Hoc Update
In Snapshots, asterisk view marks have been moved to the left margin to improve readability.
Customizable mark positioning is in the queue. 🌈
🤥 February 26 , 2026 — v8.8.4
“The truth is the truth!” — Liar Liar
There are no new navigation changes this week, but we did fix a 🐛:
The My Favorites box on the new dashboard previously didn’t display scripts buried beyond the first batch until the user clicked on the tab. Now your top 4 favorites appear immediately when you open your Dashboard — no extra clicks needed.
Everything else is working quietly behind the scenes to stay stronger, steadier, and to keep the systems you depend on tuned and ready.
Sometimes, the smallest fixes make everything feel safer — and just like Max Reede taught Fletcher, things run best when the truth is out in the open.
🧬 February 19 , 2026 — v8.8.3
“I will pioneer a new way, explore unknown powers, and unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of creation.” — Frankenstein
There’s nothing new to see on the surface. But behind the scenes, systems are more resilient, more responsive, and better prepared for what comes next.
Careful work rarely announces itself. It’s deliberate, precise, and built with care and intention — like the work of a true creator.
🚀 February 12 , 2026 — v8.8.1
“It’s all about pushing the envelope.” — Apollo 13
This week, we’ve redesigned the Scripto dashboard — built for quicker access, clearer navigation, and faster movement through your day.
You’ll now find direct jumps to:
My Favorites
My History
Workspace History (formerly Recently Edited)
What’s New in Scripto (the latest highlight)
Latest Release (full version notes + history)
System Status
Internet Trouble (quick link to a speed test)
Beta Feedback
Everything you reach for most — now closer to the starting line.
Workspace switching has also been streamlined.
Changing workspaces is now compartmentalized in the left-column header. Use the caret on the left to expand or collapse, and the dropdown on the right to switch between workspaces.
We’ve also refined the toolbar:
The “Tt” icon is now simply “T”, clearly representing formatting options.
The standardized “Aa” case-change icon remains distinct.
On condensed screens, the T becomes a dropdown, keeping controls accessible without crowding your view.
📰 February 05 , 2026 — v8.7.9
“The only way to protect the right to publish is to publish.” — The Post
This week brings a focused update to your workflow, along with continued performance tuning behind the scenes.
New keyboard shortcuts (Variety + Screenplay)
To better match standard conventions, Act controls have been updated:
NEW ACT
Cmd + 9 — Mac
Ctrl + 9 — Windows
END OF ACT
Cmd + Ctrl + 9 — Mac
Shift + Ctrl + 9 — Windows
These shortcuts now work consistently across both Variety and Screenplay scripts, making it faster and easier to shape structure as your story unfolds.
🥊 January 28 , 2026 — v8.7.8
“Maybe you will be the one who puts the world right.” — One Battle After Another
This week bring a small UI update:
1. All Caps button — UI refresh
The All Caps toggle has a refreshed look for easier access and clarity.
Beyond that, we’ve been focused on backend performance — tightening, tuning, and making sure everything runs smoother so your creative momentum never has to slow down.
One battle after another, yes — but always in service of the story. 💗
🌿 January 22, 2026 — v8.7.6
“What we carry forward matters.” — Hamnet
No visible changes this week — just careful tending behind the scenes. Small adjustments, steady hands, and the kind of work that honors what came before while making space for what’s next.
It’s a way of working Agnes would understand — tending what remains so it can keep living.
🎲 January 15, 2026 — v8.7.5
“You’ve got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em.” — The Gambler
No user-facing changes this week — just smoothing the edges and tightening things under the hood.
Sometimes progress is knowing when to move fast… and when to let the backend do its thing.
💼 January 08, 2026 — v8.7.4
“Show me the money!” — Jerry Maguire
No user-facing changes in this release — just tightening bolts, tuning performance, and making sure everything moves faster and cleaner under the hood. New year energy: fewer distractions, better flow, and doing the unglamorous work that keeps everything earning its keep.
