Dark Mode in Scripto 🌙

Until native dark mode arrives, here’s a reliable workaround.

Written by Christiane Jory

About This Workaround

Scripto does not currently include a built-in dark mode. However, many users successfully use browser extensions like Dark Reader to create a dark-mode experience while writing.

Dark Reader is a third-party browser extension that applies dark themes to websites directly in your browser.

⚠️ Because this is a third-party tool, appearance and behavior may vary slightly depending on your browser and settings.

Recommended Extension: Dark Reader

For most users, we recommend:

  • Dark Reader

Dark Reader is available for most major browsers, including:

  • Google Chrome

  • Mozilla Firefox

  • Microsoft Edge

  • Safari

How to Install Dark Reader

Dark Reader is available for most major browsers supported by Scripto, including:

  • Google Chrome

  • Mozilla Firefox

  • Safari

  • Microsoft Edge

Installation Steps

  1. Open your browser’s extension store.

  2. Search for Dark Reader.

  3. Select Add to Browser or Install.

  4. Once installed, open Scripto in your browser.

  5. Toggle Dark Reader ON.

A Few Notes

  • Some colors in revision marks, highlights, or media previews may appear slightly different under browser-based dark mode.

  • Performance can vary depending on browser extensions already installed.

  • If something looks unusual, try refreshing the page or temporarily disabling other visual extensions.

Native Dark Mode

👀 A native Scripto dark mode is on our radar. Until then, this workaround gives many users a comfortable low-light writing setup.
