Comparing Separate Scripts in Snapshots: The Workaround

Two separate scripts, one snapshot at a time 🤓

Currently, Scripto’s comparison view only works on different versions of the same script—so there isn’t yet a built-in way to compare two completely separate documents.

Don’t worry! There’s a simple workaround that keeps your original scripts safe while letting you compare them.

How to Compare Two Scripts

  1. Create a new comparison script

Start a blank document. This will be your comparisons script so your originals stay untouched.

  2. Take a snapshot of the first script

    • Copy all the content from Script 1 into the new comparison script.

    • Take a snapshot and give it a clear name, e.g., Script Draft 1.

  3. Take a snapshot of the second script

    • Delete the first script’s content from the temporary script.

    • Copy in all the content from Script 2.

    • Take another snapshot and name it, e.g., Script Draft 18

  4. Compare the snapshots

Use Scripto’s side by side view in Snapshots to compare 2 versions. You’ll see all additions, deletions, and changes between Script Draft 1 and Script Draft 18 as if they were versions of the same document.
