Mores and continueds (Screenplay Only)

Great conversations don’t stop just because the page does.

What are Mores and continueds?

In screenwriting, when a character or scene is interrupted — either by action, a page break, or a scene stretches across multiple pages — it’s customary to add visual cues to guide the reader. These cues help readers and actors follow the script seamlessly:

  • Automatic character continueds

    • When a character's dialogue is interrupted by an action, general or parenthetical block type, Scripto adds (CONT'D) next to that character's name:

  • Scene breaks

    • When enabled, Scripto will add scene continuations to the top and bottom of the page to help your script flow smoothly from page to page.

  • Controlling Mores and continueds:

    • Click the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner of the toolbar. Select Mores and continueds.

  • Select the options you want to display — they’ll appear in the editor and carry through to print and export.

📌 Note: The image above shows the default behavior. Check and uncheck the boxes to suit your needs.

Coming soon: Display “more/cont’d” across page boundaries in dialogue blocks.
